Rumahku /ru:ma:ku:/ stems from the Malay phrase, My Home.
Started in 2016, Rumahku is a personal dream sourcing quality homeware based in South East Asia to be introduced into the Australian design market. The first item sourced, is the classic handmade Vietnamese ‘Belly Basket’.
Rumahku is inspired by childhood practical handmade homeware items that has the potential to be included into the modern day multi cultural Australian design lifestyle. While these eclectic items are still being used traditionally, it is slowly lost in the contemporary homes, even in South East Asia. Rumahku aims to bring back the appreciation of these items and the skills that are slowly lost, in making these items.
